It's Your Party...

Make it An Affair to Remember!

Unless you give large parties on a regular basis and own a massive storage facility, chances are you do not have multiple sets of glassware, an array of folding tables and chairs, a trellis, a champagne fountain, or cotton candy machine on hand. Even if you do own enough linens and silverware to serve the entire White House staff, why bother? Whether you’re hosting a wedding reception, seated dinner, family reunion, business conference, backyard barbecue or a child’s birthday party, Affairs to Remember has what it takes to make your event unforgettable.

If you are working with a caterer or event planner, he or she can offer guidance concerning the rentals you need. Doing it yourself? Even if you’ve never rented party supplies before, you can expect the utmost in customer service and care. That’s because owner, Nancy Osborne, personally oversees every aspect of your rental experience. “I’m small, and I want to stay small,” she said, explaining the importance of her hands-on approach to doing business.

In addition to taking the time to know her customers, Osborne personally inspects every item that comes back to her. And because she takes so much pride in her merchandise, she launders and irons all of her own linen. If it is stained or damaged, it is removed from her inventory. Ditto for dinnerware. You won’t find a chip in the china, a lip print on a wine glass, or a smudge on the silverware. The same goes for any mechanical or electronic device. Whether you rent a coffee urn, patio heater, cake fountain or bubble machine, you can count on her equipment to work.

It’s this impeccable attention to detail that has earned Osborne a sterling reputation among area caterers and event planners. According to wedding coordinator, Linda Smreczak of Amanda Rose Weddings, quality sets Osborne apart. “She’s always there for me. Being a wedding planner, I’m very cautious about renting things. The bottom line is I never have to worry about holes in linens or napkins. She really provides a high-end product.”

Osborne admits that the rental business can be hectic. During peak season, she might provide equipment and supplies for as many as four weddings in one day. No matter the challenge, reliability is her charge. In the rental business nine years, Osborne has a knack for anticipating and preventing possible problems, making sure her delivery truck is in tip-top shape and allowing extra time for any unforeseen delay. “Knock on wood, we have never been late,” she said.

In addition to six part time employees, Osborne counts on key man, Charles Bentley, who oversees warehouse tasks, delivery, set up, pick up and more. “I couldn’t do it without him,” she said. Exchanging high fives and facing a mountain of dirty linen, at the end of the day, Osborne can truthfully say that she loves her job.

“It’s very rewarding,” she said. “We make a lot of people happy.”

What’s for rent?
Just about every type of special-event equipment you can imagine is for rent—tents, wedding arches and candelabra, fine serving pieces, food service equipment, grills, turkey fryers, sno cone machines, tables, chairs, silverware, china, linens, dance floors, audio visual equipment, you name it. But did you know that you can also rent comfort items for your guests? At Affairs to Remember, you can rent a rollaway bed, crib, high chair, car seat, stroller… even bed sheets.

If you are not sure what you need, Osborne is happy to assist. She will visit your event venue, take measurements and make recommendations.
