December 2007

Editor's Note: December 2007

I have always been fascinated by James Bond. I never wanted to be a femme fatale or even a Bond girl. I want to be Bond. James Bond. Suave, aloof and urbane, 007 embodied danger, excitement and adventure. Created by novelist Ian Fleming in 1952, 007 has been an iconic part of pop culture for over 50 years now.

Favorite movie? The Spy Who Loved Me. Favorite Bond song? A View to a Kill, by Duran Duran. Favorite 007 actor? Sean Connery (although the newest Bond, Daniel Craig, runs a close second).

It was with this inspiration that we set out to spotlight New Year’s Eve fashion to ring in 2008—with a bang. To accent the gowns and tuxedos in true Bond style, we enlisted the help of friends in getting an actual L39 Fighter Jet used in a James Bond film. And, of course, we had the quintessential Bond car—an Aston Martin. Check it out on page 40.

While we are on the subject of dashing bachelors, let’s talk about the ones who live right here in our zip code. After months of searching, we’ve narrowed it down to the Top Ten candidates for CH2’s Bachelor of 2008. Now, you decide. Log on to to cast your vote; and hurry, because the polls are only open until midnight on December 8!

Wishing you a warm holiday season and a New Year that’s shaken, not stirred.
