Faces of F&B: Robert Costello of Munchies Hilton Head

Robert Costello spent years on Hilton Head Island working at such iconic restaurants as Alligator Grille and Robert Irvine’s Eat! He spent the last two years in Savannah helping renowned Savannah Chef Roberto Leoci, recently nominated for Best Chef in Savannah, open Leocis Mercato Italiano.

Costello recently moved back to Hilton Head Island to be closer to his seven-year-old daughter Sawyer; a month later, Max, the owner of Munchies on the north end, decided to retire and offered the business to Costello. Max’s son stayed around and is running the kitchen, so Max will always be a part of Munchies. And Munchies may be coming to Bluffton very soon.

“It’s been my dream to have my own place, and I love the concept,” Costello said. “We only use Boars Head products and Nathan’s Famous hotdogs as well as fresh healthy salads. We also offer a wide range of gluten-free products and, of course, 20 different ice creams! I like the business model and the fact that we have something for everyone.”
