How long have you been in business?
5 years owning the company, 17 years in the industry.

What is a day like“in your heels?
Organized chaos! Balancing work and a very active family can be tricky. Multiple bride and family personalities, details, and where we are with each planning process makes every day different as well.

What has been the role of luck in your success?
Less luck, more gumption. You can create a “rain plan” as your backup, but if you don’t go for it, you will never know what is possible.

What is your balancing secret in managing a business and family?
No secret: if someone knows it, please share!

What inspired you to start your business?
I grew up always admiring my mother, who provided my first glimpse into event planning. She was the perfect host, creating incredible dinners and beautiful holidays. Luckily, in addition to her creativity and detailed eye, I also inherited my most complimented trait: the ability to remain calm. Creating a party is very natural for me. I don’t frazzle easily; I feel like if a party is well-planned and well-executed, the hiccups that may arise can always be resolved.

What advice would you give your children about running a successful business?
Work hard. On the hardest of days, remember that the sun will rise and we will try again tomorrow. Take in the moment; when the great moments happen, soak them in, fuel your soul. When the road seems long, don’t forget to look back to see how far you have come.

Do you have a favorite business tool and/or resource?
Emily Post for etiquette; my email inbox and calendars to keep up with my “to-do’s”; Food Lover’s Companion for menus; budget template for planning and staying organized; and a checklist for each event.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Ice cream!
