2019 Women in Business: Brody Kenneweg

Author: Special to CH2

Haskins & Co.

What is a day like in your heels?
It changes every day just like my shoes. It can be a day in the store with clients or a day running to and from bank and post office or a day I when I take my laptop to the pool.

What have been some make-or-break moments in your career—important client meetings, presentations, procurement, pitches, etc.?
Obviously being featured in CH2 magazine!

When you first started what was the biggest challenge when it came to cultivating clients/customers?
Learning who the clients were. Once I started learning who they were, it was easier to have inventory catered to them and their needs.

On those impossible days, what motivates you to keep going?
My daughter. I want her to learn what commitment and determination is, and I hope she is learning that through watching us run small businesses.

How long have you been in business?
Three and a half years.

What is your balancing secret in managing a business and family?
Letting my family be a part of my business. Saylor helps me daily with organizing the store, making jewelry, and ordering new things. We make it fun.

What inspired you to start your business?
My hubby. He believes in me so intensely. I don’t have the room to doubt myself because of how unwavering he is in his support.

What advice would you give your children about running a successful business?
Do what you love the way you know to do it. Stay focused on your dreams and build them to the best of your ability.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Netflix and wine. :)
