Ashley Adams Brown is the managing attorney for Butler & College, LLC’s Bluffton office. Butler & College, LLC is a full-service law firm, which focuses its practice on helping businesses, individuals, and families with their real estate and estate planning needs in a manner that is honest, affordable, and customer-oriented.

What have been some make-or-break moments in your career?
Truthfully, I feel like it is all happening in real time! I came on as managing attorney for the Greater HH/Bluffton/Savannah market in April of 2019 and established the sixth office location with the support of longtime friend, Taylor O’Leary, paralegal and HHI native. We work each day to ensure that our office thoughtfully addresses each client’s particular needs and to create a firm where clients become friends and colleagues grow alongside us.

What is a day like in your heels?
My main objective is to counsel clients through complex real estate matters or on how best to provide for their families. No matter how small or large the issue is in the grand scheme of the overall process, it can feel overwhelming to clients. I take the time to walk each client through each one of their concerns, questions, or whatever they are nervous about when navigating unfamiliar legal processes.

What is your balancing secret in managing a business and a family?
The support of family, friends, and co-workers. Making “work-family” and “family-family” a priority means that each has to support efforts to cultivate the other. I feel lucky to have partners in all aspects of my life who know and understand this.

On those impossible days, what motivates you to keep going?
The clients! I am the best version of myself when in service to others. I focus on being as helpful as possible because there is no better feeling after a hard day than a genuine “thank you.”
