The faces of CH2 have changed over the years, but the mission remains the same: to put out a visually spicy, mentally stimulating monthly publication featuring Hilton Head Island, Bluffton and the surrounding Lowcountry. The mag is fashion-forward with a focus on local businesses and the people behind them. Articles on current events, food, wine, the arts and entertainment round out the monthly offerings. Beautiful photography and sassy sarcasm accentuate the content.

Maggie Washo has been at the helm since the magazine’s inception in 2006. Her to day-to-day activities include inspiring her team to greatness by setting an example of hard work and stellar customer service. She reminds them that when it comes to creativity, “the only rule is there is no rule.” Although it’s not been proven scientifically, she attributes much of their success to singing aloud throughout the day to Broadway musicals and songs from Disney movies.

Ashton Harmon has been with the magazine since early 2008 and has risen through the ranks to become a formidable director of sales. She loves working at the magazine, but her life has gotten more exciting lately with the newest addition to her family, her eight-month-old daughter Campbell.

Kim Crouch has been with the magazine for over eight years. When she’s not helping clients with their advertising needs, she’s on the boat or at the beach, enjoying our beautiful island with her son Jackson and daughter Palmer and closest friends.

Hunter Kostylo rounds out the creative team with her infectious energy and quirky sense of humor. In addition to handling recurring sections of the magazine, she is liaison to many clients, creating hundreds of ads per month—with efficiency and a smile! Lately she’s been living her best life, taking trips to Hawaii and Costa Rica. This fall, she’ll be headed to Sedona to celebrate her thirtieth birthday with her besties.

Kandace Wightman is decidedly the social butterfly of the sales team and can be found out and about networking most evenings and weekends. Originally from New York, she is a huge Bills fan and is already eagerly anticipating football Sundays spent with Bongo, her 11-year-old Yorkie. She also serves on the Beaufort Chamber Young Professionals committee.

Kaila Jeffcoat does double duty on the CH2 team as resident stylist and sales representative. Originally from Seattle, she injects her West Coast flair into the magazine and into her jewelry line, ACM Jewelry Co. Fishing, traveling, and spending time with her dog Asher and her husband Rhett are her favorite things to do when not running a fashion shoot like a boss. While she loves living in the Lowcountry, she often finds time to visit her family in Washington to escape the heat.

Caroline Mahecha is the newest member of the sales team. The mother of three beautiful girls, she came to the magazine from the world of nursing and high fashion at Birdie James. She enjoys carpool lines, changing diapers, bedtime stories, and cleaning up after everyone at home. If those don’t sound like hobbies, it’s because they’re not. Mothers of three small children don’t have the luxury of hobbies. She hopes to one day take up gardening and perhaps become an astronaut.

New additions to the CH2 team include two summer interns, Ella Patrick and Valerie Droop. Ella is the social media guru capturing video behind-the-scenes, life at CH2, and happenings around the island. Before joining the team, she soaked in creative inspiration on a two-week trip around France. Ella will be graduating from Wofford College in January, so look for her to make special guest appearances in future issues of the magazine.

Valerie has been sucked into the matrix this summer as she’s had the unenviable task of reimagining CH2’s 14-year-old website—with a cheerful attitude! She currently attends Savannah College of Art and Design, majoring in advertising with a concentration in creative technology. After staring at screens all day, she can’t wait to hit the courts as a member of the SCAD tennis team. Upon graduation, Valerie plans to jet set over to Europe for the trip of a lifetime.
