New Year, Same You?

As thoughts turn from sugar plums and champagne to fresh motivation for new achievements, I’d like to share with you the Top 10 Most Common New Year’s resolutions, according to a 2014 Com Res Poll:

• Exercise more
• Lose weight
• Eat more healthily
• Take a more active approach to health
• Learn new skill or hobby
• Spend more time on personal well-being
• Spend more time with family and friends
• Drink less alcohol
• Stop smoking
• Other

It is fascinating to me that these seem to be generally the same for everyone, year after year. Why do we fail so miserably at the betterment of self? Is it because deep down, we really DON’T want to drink less alcohol or spend more time with family and friends? Or is it because we try to tackle all of these lofty goals while still full of sugar plums and drunk on champagne?

Well in any case, if you do actually want to achieve some of these goals in 2018, the team of writers at CH2 & CB2 have curated articles to help you do just that. We’ve got everything from exercises you can do at your desk (see page 49), to ways to stay fit after 40 (see page 51).

It’s not just your body that needs exercise, however. Linda Hopkins tackles ways to keep the mind in tip-top shape in her article about finding a new hobby on page 41.

Maybe “travel more” is on your list for 2018. We’ve got that covered too. Justin Jarrett regales readers with his recent trip to Walt Disney World (see page 93) and Jim Buckley invites you to plan your dream vacation with Island Travel (see page 57).

It’s a new year folks – and the world is your oyster. Get out there and do something great!
