George Mason Mortgage is pleased to announce new offices in Bluffton and on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, headed by The Kristoff Team and Ed Brown. Kristoff and Brown have been an integral part of the mortgage finance market on Hilton Head Island and the Lowcountry for over 25 years. Both served as executive officers with local community banks as well as working together at Lighthouse Community Bank.

Brown, Area Development Manager for George Mason Mortgage, said, “Being teamed with the Kristoffs again brings together a wealth of experience and knowledge of the local market and mortgage finance, which is necessary for the successful navigation of the mortgage process.”
Federal regulations have impacted the way mortgage applications are handled today, and both Kristoff and Brown are firmly committed to educating the client throughout the entire process. A well-informed customer appreciates receiving this guidance so that there are no surprises or last-minute obstacles that may derail the timing of the loan closing.

The Kristoff Team consists of Mike, an area resident over 25 years, and his son Nick, who joined his father for the past 10 years. Mike was one of the founders of Lighthouse Community Bank as well as serving as the mortgage division president for CoastalStates Bank. Nick is an Eagle Scout, a graduate of Hilton Head Island High School, and graduate of the University of Virginia with dual degrees in systems information engineering and economics. He currently serves as president of the Mortgage Lenders Association of Hilton Head Island/Bluffton. Lori MacDonell completes the team, serving as mortgage loan assistant and processor. MacDonell has been part of this team for over 10 years and has over 25 years of mortgage lending experience. The Kristoff Team manages the Bluffton office, located at 214 Bluffton Road in the Mikkelson Law Firm building.

Ed Brown has been a resident of Hilton Head Island for 25 years as well and joined Lighthouse Community Bank as the Mortgage Division Manager and Chief Lending Officer as well as serving on the bank’s ALCO committee. After the bank was sold to SunTrust, he founded Harbourside Community Bank, where he served as president and CEO.

The Hilton Head Island office, located at 23-A Shelter Cove Lane, is staffed by loan officers Allison Olweiler, Jacqueline Alcock, and Jennifer Farmer. Alcock, too, was part of the team at Lighthouse Community Bank. Both Olweiler and Farmer came to the area several years ago with extensive mortgage experience before joining George Mason Mortgage. Joy Gentile joined the team with Brown, serving as mortgage loan and sales assistant after moving from Atlanta where she helped start a local mortgage company over 10 years ago, serving as operations manager.

Our staff represents over 200 years of mortgage and financial knowledge and experience and commitment to supporting the community, which is important to delivering superior service to both the client as well as the Realtor community. The mortgage process has become much more specialized and complex, but paired with the right partner, the client can successfully navigate this process with clear communications and expectations.

George Mason Mortgage is a full-service lender based in Fairfax, Virginia and a wholly-owned subsidiary of United Bank, which was founded in 1839. The company has consistently been ranked by the Washington Business Journal as one of the area’s leading lenders. The company has offices throughout Virginia, Washington D.C., Maryland, North and South Carolina.

With a wide variety of mortgage loan programs available, George Mason Mortgage thrives on providing honest, dependable, quality service.
