The Roost owner LaCreasa Allen “feathers the nests” of clients from her beautifully appointed Bluffton boutique where furnishings, lighting, accents, and accessories result in the timeless elegance of French-inspired living and thoughtful gifting.

Some places instantly feel like home the minute you walk through the doors. Some places inspire you with new ideas about how to make your house a home and enable you to bring your own sense of style into every corner of every room. Some places feel like you’ve hit a true gold mine the minute you somehow discover them and continue to draw you back time and time again.

The Roost, which opened late last year, is all of these things. This one-of-a-kind shop in Bluffton prides itself on helping to beautifully “feather the nests” of its customers with its curated collection of unique finds and decorative accessories. In addition, what makes The Roost so special is the talented, warm and creative staff working there, who are bringing so many people throughout the region “home to Roost.”

The success behind The Roost’s unique flair for home décor and creative interiors begins with founder and owner LaCreasa Allen. Allen has combined her creative heart and entrepreneurial spirit to create a shop that somehow brings together both the beauty of the South and a French-inspired lifestyle. Under its picturesque awnings on May River Road, just off the Promenade and adjacent to Calhoun Street, The Roost instantly exudes a sense of style that is a combination of classic charm and modern design—with an array of spectacular decorative accessories and beautiful one-of-a-kind pieces that add timeless elegance and warmth to any home.

“The Roost is a shopping experience unlike any other around here. Not only is our staff wonderful, but we have so many items that you truly can’t find elsewhere,” Allen said. “My goal was to create a place where people can savor the pleasure of boutique shopping, whether it is leisurely browsing through our just-arrived home accessories, or coming in for help in finding the perfect gift for someone. We want our customers to not only get what they need, but to really feel good about their purchases. At The Roost, the shopping experience itself is as unique and special as our merchandise.”

Stepping through The Roost’s front door creates a first impression that is instantly welcoming. An inviting neutral palette is the perfect backdrop for Allen’s eclectic collection. The lighting is just bright enough to create a fresh, clean feeling, casting attention to the crystal and glassware where your eyes first fall. From there, the treasures on display and those tucked into niches and nooks are not only lovely, but prove to be surprising and captivating at every turn within this quaint, yet elegant shop.

“I believe that the key to good design is about mixing old and new pieces together,” Allen said. “There’s something very appealing about seeing an old crusty piece with a couple hundred years on it paired up with something clean, simple and modern. It creates such interest while, at the same time, giving a space the warmth that a collected, layered look provides.”

Allen, who is always seeking beautiful and unique new pieces for The Roost, recently returned from a buying trip in France and is awaiting a container of her spectacular finds, which will be arriving at the shop in perfect time for the holidays.
One-of-a-kind pieces lovingly placed around the shop include some stunning mid-century Belgian urns, vintage large green-glass bottles and antique deckle-edged French books. Larger furniture pieces complement The Roost’s aesthetic, and the shop features exquisite glassware, original artwork, Charleston-made chandeliers and stunning pendant lighting. An ideal place to find a gift, The Roost has a carefully selected collection of gourmet items, and features a number of bath and body lines (including a nearly magical lavender scented lotion), table linens and pillows, along with items such as tunics, jewelry and special accessories.

The Roost also offers a bridal registry service, where brides and grooms can create a wish list of uncommon, as well as traditional, pieces. “Setting up a home together is such an exciting and important time, and a chance to create the living space you’ve always dreamed of,” Allen noted. “Whether you are designing a registry to fill your home with some unique pieces or looking for the perfect engagement or wedding gift, we not only have some wonderful items to bring a sense of unique style to a new home, but can help select pieces that will become treasured items for couples for years to come.”

Inspired by the French and influenced by the South, The Roost is a place where you can furnish and accent your home in a way that combines classic beauty with sleek, modern, and timeless elegance. The Roost is a place where you can find just the right gift for so many of life’s special occasions. And, most important, perhaps, The Roost is a place that will warm your heart and make coming “home to Roost” something you’ll want to do over and over again.
