Hooch on the Harbour

Author: Special to CH2

Located at Scott’s Fish Market under the stars waterfront, Hurricane Harry’s offers the finest frozen drinks, tropical libations, ice-cold beer and fantastic fun on the docks. The hottest entertainment lights up the night with a Caribbean feel. Harry’s offers delectable appetizers and shellfish in season, along with the friendly bartenders and servers. Happy Hour is daily from 4:30-6:30 p.m. (except Tuesdays!) with $1 off all drinks. Summer at Scott’s features a spectacular fireworks display overhead on Tuesday evenings. Hurricane Harry’s has become the outdoor spot not to miss when visiting Hilton Head Island. We recommend trying the Frozen Mango Margarita with the Fish Tacos. Live music is featured nightly with local musicians Reid Richmond, Jon Bruner, Gary Pratt, Jordan Sturm and Kevin Richmond rotating.

For a more sophisticated Harbour experience, try Bistro 17 and be transported to a quaint French eatery. Al fresco dining is offered, along with an extensive wine list. The ambiance inside the restaurant is accentuated by music floating from the baby grand piano Monday-Saturday evenings. Try the escargot en croute or Mussels Mariniere with a chilled glass of Pinot Grigio to start your evening off right. An early dining special (15 percent off an entrée with a complimentary glass of house wine) is offered from 5-6:30 p.m. nightly.

In the mood for some Prosciutto di Parma, Chicken Parm or just a delicious pizza? Then head over to the Harbour’s resident Italian restaurant, La Fontana, and feel like one of the family. There’s plenty of seating at the outdoor bar with a front seat to the fireworks and the Shannon Tanner show in season. Happy Hour is from 4-7 p.m. every night with $4 house wines, $5 well drinks and half off all appetizers and personal pizzas. Live music is offered every night (except Tuesday) with musicians Jared Valenti, Rick Radcliffe or Charlie Denison. Try a glass of their house made limoncello for a refreshing treat.

The fresh flavors of the Mediterranean can be found in this newest addition to Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina. Try the sampler platter for a taste of hummus, fresh grape leaves, kibbeh, baba ghanouj and falafel. Happy Hour is from 4-7 p.m. with 50 percent off the bar food menu and $3 house wines and draft beer. Choose indoor or outdoor seating, and enjoy entertainment Friday-Sunday by Daryl Ingman. For a unique experience, starting August 15, the Mediterranean Harbour Bar and Grill will have a belly dancer entertaining the crowds on Friday nights!

Every day is a fiesta at this long-standing staple of the Harbour. After a hard day at work, we recommend you wash down some chili con queso with a delicious top shelf caddy margarita on the rocks. Listen to Mike Korbar and Chris Jones at the outside bar while you watch the boats return from a day on the water. Happy Hour is from 4-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, with $2 off house, gold and caddy margaritas, $1 off all beers and $4 house wines.

Voted the best location in South Carolina for water view dining, ELA’s casual yet refined atmosphere makes it a must stop for anyone on Hilton Head Island. Cozy lounge-type chairs on the second level porch make for the perfect spot to settle in with a cocktail and catch the sunset or the Tuesday night fireworks. Try the Lobster Nachos for a tasty appetizer, or the ever popular Prosciutto Shrimp and Cheddar Grits. Live entertainment is featured Wednesday-Sunday, with Bill Peterson playing jazz for Sunday brunch.
