Welcome Summer Camp!

Now that summer has arrived, we finally get to enjoy the warm weather, beach days, boating and all of the lovely things our glorious area has to offer. Along with this comes the question of childcare. With so many options to choose from, finding the right summer camp for your child can be a daunting task. Here’s your guide to available camps based on activities, interests and age.

All-Day Camps
A number of all-day summer camps are available this year. Camp Lowcounrty Day is offering an all-day camp 7:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. for rising K-third graders. The price is $145 a week and includes field trips, hot lunch and two snacks. This year’s theme is Sun Treasure Island, which is a Bible School theme.
Hilton Head Christian Academy has two sessions: June 1-26 and July 6-31. The camp is 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. for children who have completed grades K-five. Full, half, weekly and daily options are available, with discounts for attending multiple HHCA Camps.

Hilton Head Prep offers nine weekly sessions, available June 1-July 31 for children ages four-nine. Half days and full days are offered at $115 and $190 per week.

Island Rec has an all-day camp for K-eighth graders, with 10 themed weeks including Beach Party Camp, Under the Sea, Disney Day and Fun & Fitness, June 8-August 14. Discounts are given for additional children with daily, weekly and drop-in rates ranging from $30 per day to $165 per week.

Arts and Science
Several art and science related camps are available this summer, from music and performing arts to visual arts and crafts to Lego® Robotics. The Arts Center of Coastal Carolina offers four different summer camps available from June 22-July 17, including Take the Stage! Performing Arts Camp for ages 5-12, Mixed-up Masterpieces Visual Arts Camp for ages five-12, Kids ’N’ Clay Camp for ages 7-12, and Theatre Camp for ages 9-14, ranging in price from $110 to $180. Hilton Head Christian Academy is offering Performing Arts Camp for ages 6-11, Summer Art Camp for rising 1-6 graders and a Jazz Clinic for ages 10-14, all at varying times and dates with prices ranging from $110 to $129 per camp. Discounts are given when attending multiple camps. Hilton Head Prep has a number of different Art and Science Camps available, including Lego® Robotics, Photography, Summer Camp with Style, and more. The camps vary in age from rising first-twelfth graders, ranging in price from $125 to $300.

For the horse lover in your family, Moss Creek Equestrian Center is offering a summer program entitled “Horsin’ Around Days.” Available in weekly sessions, June 15-August 7, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., for children ages 5-12. The camp combines fun horse-related activities including arts, crafts and games, with hands-on lessons engaging children in the exciting world of horses and horsemanship. The cost is $95/day or $270/session.

Dance and Gymnastics
The Bluffton School of Dance is offering Camp Make Believe for ages 3-6, August 3-7, from 9 a.m.-noon for $165 per week. Several other dance programs are available through BSOD this summer.

Island Gymnastics is offering camp for ages 4-12, held 8 a.m.-4 p.m., June 1–August 14. It is a daily program with a variety of packages available, starting at $35 per day for one child, with discounts for multiple children.
Move and Motion offers 10 weekly camps for ages 3-15, June 8-August 14, with family discounts and Performance Co. discounts. Full and half days are available for $200 and $150.

May River Montessori is offering two weeks of summer camp for ages 4-7. June 29-July 3 is Summer Olympics with various Olympic games, and July 27-31 is Life’s a Beach with arts & crafts and water fun including water balloon toss, water relay races and more. The camps are 9 a.m.-2 p.m. and cost $160 per week.

Sea Pines Montessori is offering seven camp sessions, June 15-July 31. Pre-primary camp is available for ages 15 months to two years old and is an extension of the classroom with continued lessons, food work, art, water fun, and more. Primary and Elementary Camps are available for ages 3-6 with themes such as Games Galore, Culinary School, Science and Engineering and Age of Extinction. Discounts are available for siblings with half days costing $150 per week and full days costing $195 per week.

Outdoor Camps
Outside Hilton Head has some amazing outdoor camps available, offered for various ages; most are for ages seven and up, with prices varying from $35 to $125, from mid-June to mid-August. An adventure day camp called Coastal Carolina Camp offers activities such as kayaking, crabbing, water trampoline, squid dissection and more. Kids Water Fun Day offers kayaking, swimming, water games and more.

The Westin Resort offers a variety of camps including Carolina Beach Bash, Craft & Creation Adventures, Eco Discovery Days and Night Time Adventure. Offerings for teens include Stand-up Adventures with stand-up paddleboards, Teen Tube Night and Adventure Island, which is a four-and-a-half-hour boat and adventure day at Page Island with tubing, fishing, crabbing and kayaking.

Sports Camps
The options are vast for sports camps. Hilton Head Christian Academy and Hilton Head Prep both have several sports camp available. Hilton Head Christian Academy is offering Fundamentals & Fun Basketball Camp June 1-4, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.; Soccer Camp June 15-18; and two All-Sports Camps, June 22-24 and June 29-July 1, all for rising second-ninth grade boys and girls for $110.

Hilton Head Prep offers soccer for children ages eight and under, basketball for rising fourth-ninth graders, cheerleading for rising K-fifth graders, baseball for rising first-sixth graders, strength and conditioning for ages 12 and up, football for rising sixth-eighth graders, volleyball for rising sixth-eleventh graders and running for rising eighth-twelfth graders. These camps are available on varying dates throughout June and July, ranging in price from $100 per week to $350 per month.

Tennis Club of the Low Country is offering 10 weeklong morning sessions, June 8-August 14,for four different age brackets from 5 to 16. Daily and weekly rates are available, ranging from $32 for a Little Shots member daily rate to $259 for the Jr. Excellence non-member weekly rate. Members receive a discount. 

Summer Camp Listings

The Art Café Kids Night Out: Calling kids of all ages, come get your creativity on! Every Wednesday evening 6:30-8:45 is “Kids Nite Out” at the Art Cafe. We have two new pottery techniques each week, pizza, dessert & prizes! Bible Baptist Church of Hilton Head: Summer Vacation Bible School program Family Feud.” Features a week-long contest between the red team and the blue team – the Hatfields and the McCoys! July 13-17, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm each evening. We start with a free supper meal each night for all participants, and include indoor family-style games, skits, contests, trivia, the Family Feud Game, Bible stories, songs, and fun. Everyone is welcome and all are encouraged to come take part in this family-oriented time of fun and Bible learning.

The Boys & Girls Club of Hilton Head Island Summer Camp Monday through Friday June 15-July 31 from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. 151 Gumtree Road, Hilton Head Island, Open to youth ages six to 18. Camp features high-tech activities, academic and educational resources as well as recreational activities. $350/per child or $525/family of two or more. Hilton Head Christian Academy Summer Camp: HHCA’s summer camps are open to the community for children who have completed K-fifth grade, with weekly and daily options available. Hilton Head Island Juniors Golf Association: The Hilton Head Island Junior Golfers Association is joining forces with PGA Junior League Golf for a new junior summer golf experience. The program will still offer Monday & Tuesday stroke play tournaments for juniors ages 7-18 with the addition of team events through PGA-JLG. PGA-JLG is for juniors ages 7-13 and is designed to better socialize the game by creating a “little league” approach to golf, with a team scramble match play format. Hilton Head Preparatory School’s Discovery Dayz Summer Camp: Join Hilton Head Preparatory School’s Discovery Dayz Summer Camp for a summer of fun. International Junior Golf Academy: The IJGA Summer Academy Experience is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for junior golfers of all ages and skill levels to receive training from elite instructors on full swing, short game, putting and course management. Students will learn proper techniques and hone their skills at the exclusive training facilities of IJGA. Week long sessions can be combined for the experience best suited for each junior. Island Art Camp: Island Art Camp is an active, involved program where your child will learn about and appreciate art. The program also includes games, snack, outdoor recreation, and much more. Outside Hilton Head Children’s Camps: Operating weekday mornings from mid-June through mid-August at Shelter Cove Marina and Beachfront at the Westin Resort, Outside Hilton Head camps are centered on fun and exploration of our local environment. Programs are designed to fit different ages and interests. One- and two-day camps at Shelter Cove Marina include kayaking, games and experiments for children over age 7. Summer Discovery Camps at the Coastal Discovery Museum: The Coastal Discovery Museum will host camps this summer on Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., starting June 11 and ending August 20. These fun adventures will explore the Lowcountry of South Carolina. Discovery Camps are designed to provide participants with an in-depth look at the natural history and cultural heritage of the Lowcountry through hands-on explorations and investigations. Tennis Club of the Low Country: Swing into junior tennis camps this summer and discover the fun at the Tennis Club of the Low Country. Programs are designed for players of all levels, ages 5-16. The club features specially sized courts, based on your child’s age and ability, to ensure immediate success. Tournament level players experience more competitive play to improve their level and game. Camps begin the week of June 8 and continue through the week of August 10.
