It Takes a Village

Business Profile The Lowrey Group

While most of us are familiar with the African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child,” the same concept can also be said for small business in the Lowcountry. The Lowrey Group, one of Hilton Head Island’s leading marketing and hospitality firms of fine island restaurants and catering services, continues to evolve and integrate cutting-edge, operational marketing tools and incentives to its customers and local business partners.

By diligently responding to the change in market conditions, The Lowrey Group has found the shift in market share to be an opportunity, as well as a call to action for all island businesses to proactively re-evaluate their business strategies, amplify awareness and mature together.

The Lowrey Group’s fine island restaurants—CQ’s, Ocean Grille, Old Fort Pub, Antonio’s and Boathouse II—have implemented major operational developments in reaction to the larger restaurant chains that have recently moved to the island. In order to compete and sustain adequate market share, The Lowrey Group has introduced interactive reservation services and incentives, polished the overall food quality and service, as well as sharpened its marketing efforts.

With its convenient and innovative reservation services, The Lowrey Group begins creating an expedient and pleasurable dining experience well before guests even enter the restaurant. Open Table online reservations allows a guest to access and secure dinner plans 24 hours a day, seven days a week. An in-house “Call Center” has been launched and designed to facilitate “One Call Does It All” time-efficient reservation services. The Call Center permits guests to make one phone call to obtain one or multiple reservations at any of the five fine island restaurants. This new service is ideal for visitors and meeting planners scheduling a week in Hilton Head, as well as local islanders planning their weekly dinner menus. The Lowrey Group has also introduced “Dine Around”, so guests can make one phone call to schedule dinner plans at different restaurants, but will also receive discounts for making multiple reservations within one week.

The soul of fine island dining lies within the company’s continuing efforts to create an enjoyable, unique and memorable dining experience, whether it’s a taste of Tuscany with clients at Antonio’s or Sunday Brunch with family at Old Fort Pub. For The Lowrey Group, improving all aspects of the dining experience in terms of food quality and service, has required upgrading personnel, continuing education, offering seasonal menus, creating exciting promotions and dropping prices.

The Lowrey Group insures its kitchen and dining room is stocked with reputable and experienced chefs, managers and wait staff that regularly participate in the latest industry training programs.

“We believe that enhancing food quality and offering additional service training to our staff does not just make us better, but makes us noticeably better,” says Lang Lowrey, off-premise consultant for the Lowrey Group.

Many local businesses are actively involved with The Lowrey Group’s marketing efforts, which collaborate to position Hilton Head Island and its local business sector as a community of action. Business partners are featured in editorial, involved in monthly e-newsletters, participate in promotional activities and events, such as WineFest, as well as issue direct-mailing materials to new and repeat customers.

This holiday season, The Lowrey Group has already planned several exciting events and promotions for Christmas and New Year’s including visits with Santa and caroling at all the restaurants.
