Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, Dr. Elizabeth Shelly developed an
early interest in dentistry, stemming from her strong math and science
skills, combined with an interest in medicine and a desire to help people.
Declaring her career choice in the sixth grade, she never wavered.
After Marquette University in Milwaukee, Dr. Shelly went on to study
dentistry at Northwestern University Dental School in Chicago, graduating in 1986 and opening her dental practice on Hilton Head Island in 1987.

Since that time, Dr. Shelly has pursued extensive post-graduate education at
the prestigious Dawson Academy in St. Petersburg, Fla., where the emphasis is on
comprehensive dentistry. Calling herself “more than just a tooth doctor,” Dr. Shelly
believes that quality, predictable dentistry begins with the complete masticatory
system, including the gums, jaw joints, muscles and teeth. “The advantage of that kind of dentistry is that we are building inside the framework of the function, so it’s going to last,” she said. Dr. Shelly specializes in restorative dentistry, including veneers, dentures, crowns (including CEREC® single-visit ceramic crowns when appropriate)—everything from a simple filling to full mouth rehabilitation. Working with many TMJ (Temporomandibular joint disorder) patients, Dr. Shelly offers relief through corrective dental therapy and/ or appropriate restorations. With a chair-side manner that is calm and unhurried, she takes pride in providing
the highest level of care along with the highest level of caring.

In other words, she takes time to listen, to evaluate and to offer the very best options to each patient based on his or her unique dental needs. Dr. Shelly currently practices in Bluffton, SC. Call today and discover the difference her comprehensive approach to dentistry can make for you.
